Fer'cited

Yup! I'm all fer'cited! It looks like my truck is actually going to get sold. I posted it on Ebay just to see if anyone would actually bid my reserve price on it, and voila.... someone did! So it looks like I definitely have a buyer, but at the time of this posting there is still about 3 days left on the auction, so maybe it will get bid up a little more yet. Time will tell, but that's why I'm excited, because I'm not good at waiting for anything. I'm thinking this idea of selling stuff on Ebay is a good idea. I might list a bunch of other stuff I have on there. It wouldn't hurt to part with a bunch of things. Anybody want any of my junk? You know the old cliche - one man's junk is another man's treasure. It reminds me of a book that we used to have a long time ago, called "Alvin's Swap Shop." What would Alvin have done if Ebay had been around during the 70's, when the book was published?

Hey Merle, maybe with the money I make from the truck I'll have enough to buy two Fords. That way I can rotate stock, and always have one to drive while the other one is getting "Fixed or Repaired Daily." :-) LOL-O-LOL-O-LOL-O-LOL!!!

Baby Cowboys and Bullhockey

I had to get away from the books and all of that malarkey because I'm going nutty, so I went along with some of my buddies to a rodeo on Saturday night. Before the show actually started, they had a couple of things to keep the crowd entertained, and one thing was letting little kids ride sheep. Just like daddy riding a bull or bronk! One of the other things I took a video of during the rodeo was a game of bull hockey. There are two teams, and the objective is to get the bull to run between your two barrels, which are the goals. It didn't matter which direction the bull would run through the goal. I thought it was sort of amusing. Enjoy!

The camera was on "continuous auto focus" mode which is a joke. Kodak didn't engineer that option of the camera very well, so there are blurry spots throughout the video. I've learned it works better to have the camera on "single focus."

Vehiculars

Even though fuel prices have come down quite a bit, I don't trust any claims that they will stay down (haven't heard any either). If all goes as planned, I'll be commuting 45 miles one way to work next year, and I'm thinking about maybe getting a vehicle that gets better fuel mileage after I graduate. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I'm a die-hard Chevy driver, but in this case I don't really care too much what I get, as long as it's not a Jetta. Does anyone have some ideas? What do you drive? What kind of fuel mileage do you get? I'm hoping to find something that gets at about 40 miles per gallon or better, if possible. It doesn't have to be anything glamorous. I just want something that I can put a lot of highway miles on without much maintenance. I'm hoping to find something for less than $5,000 but if I find a good deal on something that gets exceptionally good fuel mileage, I might go as high as $8,000. I would like to stop using my lowrider for daily commuting, and maybe eventually restore it. Maybe it will be worth something when I'm an old geezer.

Also, my maroon truck is for sale. If you know anyone who wants it, send them my way. Anyone interested should make an offer - less than $1,000. I'm negotiable on the price, and I need money for college. Put it this way, if you make an adequate donation to the "Help Bubba Through College" fund, I'll donate a truck to your cause. I don't really need the truck anymore because I have a 4x4 Blazer for the winter. Here's some info about the truck:

1991 Chevy S-10, Extended Cab, 4x4, 187,000 miles. 4.3 Liter V6, Automatic transmission, 3.42 gears, air conditioning. It was recently given a tune-up (spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.). The inspection sticker is good until February 2009. It has a Flowmaster 40 series exhaust with dual exhaust from the muffler on back. The front differential was rebuilt within approximately the last 5-10K miles. The leaf springs in the back are from a full size Chevy 1500 pickup, plus one extra leaf, so it can be loaded fairly heavy. With a good set of mud tires, this truck has proven itself quite capable in the snow, and I've pulled out dozens of stuck vehicles that were bigger than this truck, and responded to lots of emergency 911 calls in all sorts of foul weather. It has some rust, especially on the bed. I think it has some wiring issues, like maybe a loose connection somewhere, because the air conditioner keeps blowing the fuse, and it doesn't quite idle as smooth as it used to. It intermittently stutters, then clears up. I thought maybe there was a problem with the fuel pump, so I took that all apart, put another one in, and it still acts the same. I'm not an electrician, and I don't have the time or patience to track down the problem, but I'm almost sure there is a wire shorting out somewhere. When it had the mud tires on, it got about 17 miles per gallon driving to school, but if the wiring was figured out, I think it would do a little better, and it would run fine for a good while yet. I would like to keep the cowl induction hood, unless any potential buyer would really want it, but I will be even more negotiable on my price if I can keep the hood. I have another factory-style hood available from a friend. I repainted the truck back in 2002, and I think I still have some matching paint with the mixture code somewhere, so that other hood could be painted to match.

OK, so if you are still reading, and you are possibly interested in this truck, my phone number is 484-824-5938.

My new Xanga site

I'm experimenting with a new blog on Xanga. I'm not sure yet if I'll keep it, or if I'll just stick with this blog here on blogger. I guess it depends on which one I find to be more user friendly. For now I'll definitely keep this one, but if you want you can check out my new Xanga site here: www.xanga.com/GStauffer

As of now I don't really have much posted there, but that might change eventually. Time will tell, but I'm already not sure about Xanga because they have ads on the side of my page there. We'll see.......

Meanwhile, check out my new videos on this site. I took some of the old ones off, and added some Dr. Seuss ones just for a few giggles. The funny part is remembering back to the days before I could read on my own. Mom would take us to the library, and I always picked out Curious George and Dr. Seuss books. It was funny, because Mom couldn't figure out why I always wanted to hear her read Dr. Seuss, but it was because it was so funny to hear her get all tongue-tied. Thanks Mom!

What are these?

Check out Genesis 6:4 (NIV). "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days-and also afterward-when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." Have you ever heard of Nephilim before? Also, what does it mean by "the sons of God" and "the daughters of men" having children? Nephilim are also talked about in Numbers 13:33.

Here's another one, Leviathan. It is found in Job 3:8 & 41:1, Psalms 74:14 & 104:26, and Isaiah 27:1. What is Leviathan? I haven't heard much talk about either of these two.
