Fire

Here are some pictures of a fire that we responded to one night this week. The ladder truck is from Womelsdorf. I ran out of room on the camera, and the battery was going dead, but there were a lot more trucks there than what you see in these pictures. They were parked up and down the road for several hundred yards. It was only about 18 degrees outside, so they had to keep the water moving until it was time to wrap it up, or else the hoses would have frozen. All the water that was running off flowed out into the lawn or down the street and made a big icy mess everywhere.

The ladder truck was parked on the west side of the house.

And this is what it looked like from the east side of the house:

This picture is from the south side of the house, facing the front of the building from across the street. Pictured are Engine & Tanker 27 (Rehrsburg), with Ladder 47 (Womelsdorf) peeking out from behind the smoke.

Till it was all said and done, the house was basically ruined. The roof had collapsed in, and otherwise the litle bit that didn't get scorched was damaged by smoke or water. The houses across the street were also engulfed in smoke for an extended amount of time too, because it was so windy that night.
